The Fan Club

By Rekka-chan

Note: This fanfic is based on a Samurai Troopers doujinshi featured in the Samurai Kids Anthology #36. I simply love Tachibana Kaim-sama's artwork - she is one of my favorite YST manga/doujinshi artists. Anyway, here's the legal stuff: Yoroiden-Samurai Troopers is copyright © Sunrise/Nagoya TV and the CBS/Sony Group.

    "Seiji-sama!"

"Seiji-sama, are you free Friday night?"

    "Seiji-sama, I love you!"

    "SEIJI!"

Date Seiji tried to control his animosity at the shouts. Everyday he had to go through this. He had no peace here: the girls constantly pestered him at his school. What annoyed him was the fact that they apparently created an un-official fan club devoted to him. He was neither flattered nor pleased by this. Seiji disliked talking about his appearance. Never the less he followed his virtue and was polite as possible towards these girls without getting too embarrassed (which was extremely hard for him to do so).

"Seiji-san, you are fortunate, my friend," Shingo admonished as he left the high school grounds with Seiji. "All those women wanting you and here you are being such a tease!"

A smile played on Seiji's lips. Shingo was at first, his rival years ago in kendo. They were almost mirror images when it came to kendo. Both acquired the same skill level and dexterity. Even after Shingo had gone as far as to throw sand into Seiji's eye to win, the two later became friends. Shingo was an okay guy and was a close friend. Well, as close as anybody could be to Seiji. Being a Samurai Trooper was a secret from Shingo.

The two young men made their way down the street, talking about this and that. Shingo wasn't like Seiji's other friends: Ryo, Touma, Shu, and Shin. He was the most "normal" friend he had. Shingo was studying very hard in hopes to get into Tokyo University. He also had a steady girlfriend whom he loved very much.

At times Seiji envied him because he was able to do the things he wasn't able to. In the Date family, the women (except for his grandfather) held the power. His elder sister, Yayoi, used to tease him about girls all the time. Now at the age of seventeen, Seiji would get uncomfortable talking to women. Of course, Shingo would poke fun at him because of this.

A bright flash blinded Seiji. He stumbled back into Shingo and shook his head, trying to banish the spots he saw in front of him; even with his eyes closed he could still see them. Shingo helped steady Seiji and he looked about.

"Who was that?!" he exclaimed. "Seiji, are you okay?!"

Two heads popped out from a nearby bush. Both of them were men: one of them had short blue hair and a scar underneath his left eye. The other man had long curly white hair and wore an eye-patch over his left eye. Seiji finally was able to do away with the spots and he held up a fist.

"What are you two doing?!" he shouted as he stood straight up. "You trying to kill me?!"

Yami Masho Anubisu fell out from the bush while Gen Masho Rajura stumbled out, holding a camera in his hands. Seiji's eyes widened. "What is going on?" he demanded. "You better tell me now."

"We're not here to hurt you!" Anubisu replied hastily as he got to his feet. He laughed nervously and added, "We're members of your fan club, Korin! We were just getting pictures of you for the next newsletter!"

"YOU TWO?!" Seiji nearly suffered a heart attack. Shingo simply stood there with a giant sweat drop on the side of his head.

"W-We better be going now!" Rajura yelled. "See you later, Korin!" And with that, both ex-Masho fled for their lives down the street.

Seiji's fists shook and he muttered curses underneath his breath. Shingo laughed and placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Hey, Seiji-san, um, nice friends you have there."

"Who needs friends when you have those guys on your side," Seiji growled. "I can't believe them..."

"Seiji!" Sanada Ryo, Hashiba Touma, Shu Rei Fuan, and Shin Mouri made their way to Seiji from across the street. Seiji blinked in confusion. "Guys? What are you doing here? You're far from your homes, aren't you?"

Shu laughed. "What's wrong with visiting friends, Seiji?"

"Nothing, but--" He stopped in mid-sentence as he noticed the Troopers wearing cards on their shirts. "What are those?" he asked.

Ryo grinned and removed the pin that held the card. He held it in front of Seiji, which read:

Un-official Official Member of the Date Seiji Fan Club

    Member's Card

    No. A-329

    Name: Sanada Ryo

Seiji fell over in shock. He quickly got to his feet once more and shouted, "What is this?! You all...???"

Shin, who was standing behind Ryo, stepped forward and held out his card, smiling innocently. "We admit, we weren't too pleased of this club of yours," he said, "but after the good deals we were offered, we just couldn't get enough of you, our dear friend!"

Seiji had a huge sweat drop on the side of his head. "Shin, you too?"

Touma and Shu flashed their membership cards at Seiji, both of them grinning stupidly. Seiji scowled, "I can't believe you guys! I thought you were my friends!"

"We are your friends!" Touma pointed out as he brushed the stubborn lock of blue hair from between his eyes. "We endorsed the club you know."

    "You what?!"

Shu nodded and patted his card proudly. "Yup. Nasty is selling the T-shirts and Jun is making the special prism cards featuring you in your everyday life: sleeping, waking up, eating, brushing your teeth, changing your clothes, taking a shower..."

    "W-W-What?!"

"Seiji-san, your face is totally red," Shingo pointed out. He was utterly confused on what was going about but he had to admit that he found this rather fun.

Seiji covered his face with his hands and groaned. He shook his head and moaned, "Please let me wake up. Please let me wake up. This is a nightmare. This is a nightmare."

"Ni-chan you are acting silly again," a feminine voice spoke.

"S-Satsuki!" He lifted his head and found his fifteen-year old sister standing alongside the Troopers and Shingo. He shouted, "What are you doing here?!"

Satsuki giggled and drew out some photographs of a cute little black-haired girl wearing an adorable kimono. She shouted happily, "I'll be selling these pictures of you when you were little! I think these will sell really well."

    "SATSUKI!"

She giggled more. "Ni-chan, you were cute as a girl and you're cute now as a boy. Let's face it, you're gifted."

Shingo patted Seiji's shoulders and casually leaned against him. He snickered, "Seiji-san, you are really popular. I admit, I'm jealous of you."

"Don't say such things!" Seiji blurted out, his cheeks pink with embarrassment. "You guys are all so uncooth!"

Ryo shook his head. "Seiji, it's your fault for being so handsome."

    "Shut up!"

"No need to be rude," Touma chortled. "Besides, you get a percentage of the profits, considering it's you that all the girls want to see and go out with."

Seiji moaned as they all made their way down the street. He muttered, "Why me? Oh why me? What did I do to deserve this?"

Shu smirked. "Hey Seiji," he said softly, "you only get to live this life once. Just lay back and enjoy the ride, okay?"

"Shu..." The blonde lowered his head and sighed. "I swear I'm going to murder you all."

"Ni-chan, that's not very nice," Satsuki said as she jumped onto Seiji's back. Seiji gasped for breath but did not push her off. He made sure she was holding on before he carried her piggyback style. For such a thin looking girl, Satsuki was much heavier than she appeared to be.

Shingo placed his hands behind his head. He gazed up at the sky and said, "You're a special guy, Seiji-san, to have all of these people care about you."

"If they cared they wouldn't be making money off of me," Seiji retorted.

"We're just teasing you," Shin pointed out as he glanced at his troubled friend with a smile. "Besides, you act like a stiff old man sometimes."

Seiji did a double take. "What's that supposed to mean?!"

Touma replied, "Just because you follow tradition, it doesn't mean you always have to do so. Like Shu would say, 'cut loose sometimes.'"

I already do so when I'm a Samurai Trooper, Seiji thought grumpily.

"Don't act like such an old man," Shu said as he walked beside Seiji with his hands in his pockets. "Your parents don't have to know and we'll make sure the girls back off in their picture taking."

    "And the Masho?"

"Um... we'll talk to them about that, heh!"

Satsuki hugged Seiji's neck. She mumbled, "You're just cool towards everyone, ni-chan."

Seiji smiled faintly at his little sister. His friends were all odd and funny in their own ways. He had to admit, he never got tired of their antics. Together, they all made their way down the street to the Seiji household where they all stayed for dinner.

 -The End-

Author's Note: Yeah that’s it. Pretty short, huh? I might add more to it later, but for now, that is all!
